Hi! I’m new to Tiller. I’ve linked and imported all my accounts. I wanted to import transactions for the past 12 months for all accounts, if possible. For those that only went back 90 days, I downloaded the older data as CSV, saved in Excel format, converted to a table to add month and week data, and then uploaded to Google Sheets and imported into Tiller. Next, I went in to the “Category” tab to add additional categories and followed that by categorizing some of them in the “AutoCat” tab and ran the “AutoCat” feature. I works fine for all items that were automatically imported by Tiller from the start (it imported transactions older than 90 for some accounts). However, for all the older account data that I manually added, it is not categorizing these on my Transactions tab. What am I missing?
I think the newer AutoCat now only acts on transactions that have ‘Transaction IDs’. @heather can confirm this. I’m pretty sure if you generate some kind of unique value in the transaction ID column of the old data, it will then act on those transactions as well.
AutoCat should work if you use the Import CSV button on the Tiller console for importing transactions. Then all the imported transactions will automatically get Transaction IDs.
Hi @jpfieber , I don’t see “Transaction ID’s”. But I realize now what I did wrong. See my response below to Mark.
Thanks @Mark.S! Based on your comment, I realized that I didn’t actually “import” the old data using the “Import CSV” button. Instead I copied and pasted it directly into the Tiller transactions spreadsheet from Google Sheets and apparently that won’t allow access to all the features. You must use the “Import CSV” button to manually add additional transaction data. Thanks!
Yeah, makes sense now. Because you just copy/pasted them in, they didn’t get transaction IDs, so AutoCat won’t deal with them. You can either delete and reimport with the importer, or you can manually create transaction IDs (I’d reimport if it isn’t too difficult).
