Certain dividends received posted as negative income

I have several accounts through Fidelity, which feed into my Foundation worksheet. However, with certain accounts (labled ‘investment’), when I receive dividends, they post as negative income. With other accounts (cash management) they come through correctly as positive.

Both represent dividends that should accrue to my Investment Income category, but they are handled differently. In researching, there are hints that this is a Plaid problem.

Does anyone know:

  • What causes this discrepancy?
  • What I should do about it so i maintain correct accounting, without changing the original downloaded transaction sheet? What’s best practice here?

I don’t think Tiller officially works with ‘Investment’ accounts yet, but I could be wrong.

Welcome to Tiller Marc. I have Fidelity accounts, labeled similar to what you explain above (Taxable, Tax Free, Tax Deferred). My dividends for all accounts are positive (as income) and dividends that i re-investment are negative (similar to investment purchase within account), in the transaction sheet. The one difference is my Fidelity is connected to Yodlee vs Plaid.
