CSV Spreadsheet Importer Multitool for Google

I would probably prefer the Tiller transactions over the Mint ones, but they should include all the same info except for the Tiller id numbers, so not a big deal either way. Tiller shouldn’t re-pull transactions if they are deleted, I believe the console keeps track of transactions that have already been pulled and doesn’t pull them a second time. “Transactions” and “Balance History” are where the data imports go, everything else builds off of those two sheets. Generally, templates will color cell backgrounds green when you are expected to make changes there, so you shouldn’t make changes anywhere else. Of course, if you want to customize, you’re going to need to make changes elsewhere, so the best things to remember are the undo button, and the “Version History” tool in the File menu. Try stuff, and if you break things and can’t figure out how to get it working again, and undo doesn’t fix it, use Version History to go back to a version before you made the change. It’s a life saver and allows you to try things without a fear of “losing everything” (you may just loose a little bit depending on when the last version was).

Your excellence impresses me. Mapping is way over my head. I thought maybe I should mention that importing Venmo transactions today does not map the Date of the Transaction for me. I, myself, am at a loss as to how to rectify that. My attempts to auto-populate the Date fields were fruitless, so I won’t go there here. Anyone here know? Or might there be updated versions of these helpful sheets posted elsewhere in the Community?

I hear you, @otoe1. This template is more powerful & flexible than some of the auto-import workflows, but it can take a little extra effort to set up properly.

Have you tried the Import CSV Line Items workflow? It has a Venmo import and will not require configuration. (I just tested the Venmo line-items workflow and it seems to be working well.)

Hey @randy thanks so much for creating this. Huge now that Mint has booted us all off. I’ve followed all the instructions to import my Mint transactions and believe I’ve done it all correctly. Where I seem to have gotten stuck is in usage after step 5. Step 6 says:

That seems to imply that the data I imported in the Mint tab from your multitool should be appearing in the CSV Spreadsheet Importer? Where I see the Dupe column? I feel like I’m missing the step that gets the date from one to the other. Am I supposed to copy and paste the columns per their matchup laid out in the CSV Spreadsheet Importer Rule? It seems like that’s right but I’m not sure and want to confirm.

Thanks so much!

@zkaletschwartz thanks for your question. I don’t have the answer to your specific question, but I’m curious why you’re using this option over the Tiller Community Solutions Mint import workflow? Docs: Import CSV Line Items

Ah, is this the thing to use? I just search for importing Mint csvs and this thread was the first to come up so I assumed it was the right one. I will give your suggestion a try.

Okay, can confirm. That was so much easier!

Glad that helped! We have a few mint-specific resources here: Welcome to Tiller from Mint Webinar Resources

This thing works great, and I made a mini-AutoCat for some of the categories that occur regularly on my accounts.

One note: When looking for dupes, you will need to update this line to reference your columns for Date, Description, and Amount.

This is D1 on the `CSV Spreadsheet Importer’ sheet.

I have a template to share. This is for American Express Bank, which is not currently accessible with Tiller via Yodlee.

Here is the sheet.

Transactions CSV are available here when you are logged in.

I auto-assign some categories for frequent items, so you can use the picture below as an example template.

Hope it helps someone!
