Hello @davidlyle23, This usually happens when the account is categorized as an “Asset” rather than a “Liability” in your background settings.
Here is the quick fix using the Accounts sheet:
That should immediately force the Net Worth calculation to treat it as debt.
Spreadsheet Tip: I really love the Accounts sheet because it gives you the final say on how Tiller organizes your data, overriding whatever the bank feed sends over. It puts you in full control of your dashboard logic.

This makes the assumption that the student loan row is configured in the Accounts sheet. The Accounts sheet is blank by default so this may not apply to you @davidlyle23. If you don’t see a row there for your student loan just select it from the dropdown in column A and then set the class to Liability.
If that doesn’t resolve your issues I’d recommend reaching out to our support team via the chat window in the lower right corner of the Console at https://my.tiller.com/
I’ve seen the opposite - the credit on my credit card statement (they owe me) appears negative in Tiller. After some back-and-forth, I was informed that this is a limitation of Plaid (or Yodlee?) - they can’t handle credit on credit cards. Ugh.
