This issue has been ongoing for many weeks with no resolution. I have 22 institutions I sync in Tiller. As of right now 14 of them won’t sync and show the “fix” button. If I choose “fix” I get an error that says “max attempts reached, try again later” immediately. It doesn’t try to contact the institution. Either Tiller itself or Yodlee is blocking it.
As I mentioned it has been many weeks. I’ve tried all of the following both using an incognito browser tab and without using an incognito tab:
Multiple browsers tested including Safari, Edge, Chrome, and Comet on 3 different computers including Mac and Windows machines
Editing credentials instead of selecting “fix”
Deleted an institution entirely and cannot add it back, get same error
Attempted to add completely new institution not previously connected, same error
Contacted support and was informed “we can only track issues on a per institution basis with only one institution per ticket”; they refused to accept an issue affecting Tiller itself; I gave them Truist as one of the institutions not working but made it clear none were working. Shortly thereafter I got a response saying Truist was reporting possible issues and they closed my ticket.
Upgraded my subscription to the Pro tier to get more refreshes; no change (waste of $50)
Asked Gemini about it and was told I most likely have a lock on my Yodlee user profile ID that is automatically rejecting every attempt, and that Tiller should know about the issue and be able to reset it. Very possible Gemini made that up, but it sounds like something that would happen.
So right now 2/3 of my institutions won’t refresh at all. Nothing I try helps. Support wouldn’t help. What now?
When you say ‘support’ do you mean Tiller support or support from the institutions you’re trying to connect to? Tiller support should help resolve this, with that many institutions being problematic it suggests to me a Tiller or aggregator issue, which they should have insight to.
Tiller support is what I was referring to. I have not found financial institutions willing to assist at all with any sort of personal finance software since Quicken introduced transaction downloading in the mid-90s. Although it was much more reliable and user friendly back then at least for the institutions that supported it.
No one has responded in relation to the max attempts error across my account, but I did separately create a ticket for PenFed which was responded to yesterday with instructions to try PenFed again. I was able to add PenFed as a new institution through Plaid which syncs 3 of my 5 accounts there. Then a little later I was able to refresh Yodlee successfully which synced the other 2 accounts.
I was also able to add Bank of America as a new institution through Plaid which syncs 5 of my 6 accounts there. The yodlee connection to BoA still gives the max attempts error so I can’t sync that 6th account.
Lightstream let me refresh my yodlee connection once and it synced but is broken again now.
At this point 7 institutions are still failing through yodlee and report the max attempts error if I try to add, refresh, or fix any of them. I also got the max attempts error again trying to add Truist through Plaid.
When I tell them PenFed let me sync they will close that ticket even though my other accounts aren’t syncing.
@sdorn77 we’re tracking your issue appropriately here that all your accounts from Yodlee are affected so the team won’t close the ticket just because PenFed is working.
I had 21 feeds with 14 not syncing. At least 7 were returning a “max attempts” error. It seems to be resolved now. I am not getting the max alerts error at all.
In this situation where multiple or all of yodlee connections are resulting in Max Attempts Reached our team should reach out to yodlee and request the account be “unblocked” and it usually fixes it at the user level since it’s not at the individual institution level. If it’s 1 institution but not all or most then it gets handled at the institution level.
