Excel Imports stopped bringing in the AMOUNT column around August 10, 2026

I’m new in the community, and know how to search by keywords but see nothing like this problem here in the forum. I honestly may be searching incorrectly. Past issues have eventually been resolved by Tiller Support but I decided to see if the community works faster. Screenshot is attached to show what is missing in my Excel File on every transaction. To summarize:

  1. All my accounts are affected, this is not just one bank or credit card and they all show status of updated within the past few days.
  2. All the other fields in the import are still working correctly, but without the $ value the imports are useless.
  3. This has been working fine for many months so it should not be a setup issue - was there an update or patch made back in August that only affects Excel users? Seems like plenty of others would be having this problem though if it was caused by an update – so I’m expecting that I made a change that has caused this.
  4. As shown, this column is not set to Hidden in Excel - that is the sort of thing I have control over and have checked.

Many thanks for any ideas on this. - Jim

Very strange! I wonder if the header name got changed somehow, like with a space at the end or something, so it looks like ‘Amount’, but isn’t really. You might try deleting the contents of that cell and retyping ‘Amount’ to be sure that’s all that is in there.

I would think with that Security Warning and Linked Data Types not Enabled, you wouldn’t be able to download any transactions. But I’m no expert here!

Hi JP,

I’ve done as you suggested. But now how do I ask the imported lines to retry to get that Amount field data? Or do I need to add all the missing data from prior dates and just look at the next import occurring after today when I blanked out the header text and re-entered it? - Jim

If new transactions come in with amounts, then I’d try deleting all the ‘bad’ transactions, but not sure if they’ll come back. A better strategy if new transcations come in with amounts is to figure out when things broke, and go back in your revisions to before it broke and restart from there. All transactions since then should come in fine then.

@jmccune90 this is really strange! We did make some updates to Excel in preparation for upcoming feature releases, but it shouldn’t have impacted the amount column like this.

Can you confirm if re-typing the Amount header resolved the issue for you for new transactions flowing in?

It won’t fix transactions retroactively where it’s already missing and so version history would be the only way to recover those I think. If the file isn’t stored on OneDrive and you can’t access version history the other option would be to link a new sheet, link the same accounts and fill the data in for those accounts into the new sheet, then clear the transactions from your original sheet and copy/paste them from the new sheet into the original sheet.

Heather

Thanks for jumping in, Heather.

I redid the Header cell as suggested by JP, but recent updates to the Excel file are still coming in without AMOUNT filled in. Since there is no clear explanation, and I am using OneDrive for the Excel file, I’m going back into the History as you suggested, recovering from the point where the problem started in mid-August, and letting the more recent transactions since then get added the next time I sync the account data from all my banks.

I never like having to go with “no one knows why this happened” since that leaves me open to creating this problem again. But I’ll be watching carefully what I do and try to avoid whatever mistake it was that caused this. Knowing that no one else is having this exact problem points the finger squarely at me, so I’ll accept that as a good enough answer. - Jim

You all were correct. The AMOUNT column got filled with garbage back around the time the problem started. See attached.

I just finished going into Version History and restoring from the Excel file there dated late July. Once updated and synced, my Amounts are all populated now! I’m very happy with this resolution.

As an aside, can I assume (since my issue started in the Community but then mysteriously moved over to the one and only Heather, that Community questions that linger less that 100% resolved get passed over to Tiller Support? Or was that due to JP alerting her to my question and asking for an assist? I’m happy to keep starting in the Community with any future questions if this is the expected workflow connecting Community discussions to Support Tickets. - Jim

SORRY - here is the mentioned attachment showing the Header Corruption.

Tiller staff do hang out in the forum, and myself and others do sometimes give them a heads-up of issues we thing might need someone from Tiller to assist with, but it’s not a prescribed formula. Where you start really depends on the issue. If it’s something to do with the data feed, you can certainly ask in the forum if others are seeing similar issues (or look in the outages spreadsheet) but Tiller staff will need to do a deep dive, community can’t. If it’s a community provided solution, Tiller staff can’t really provide support, so the community will hopefully be able to assist.

Tiller customer success is the best place to start with core bank connectivity and fill issues. Your Amount column issue definitely falls in this bucket, @jmccune90. Sometimes community members like @jpfieber (thank you!) help these issues find the right home.

Support for community templates (even those created by Tiller) is best effort.

Glad you figured it out @jmccune90 - I just try to be as responsive as possible anywhere I’m called :woman_superhero:
