Introducing an easier, more modern Tiller Console

@mysterytea @braxton.ponder we did learn today that the logic unintentionally changed for the Refresh Accounts button to a 24 hour timer due to other in progress work, not specifically this Console design overhaul. I’ve got a task in for the team to improve that Refresh Accounts button experience so it’s not a 24 hour timer but rather will reset at midnight pacific (just easiest).

As far as being able to refresh Bank of Colorado @braxton.ponder the Console changes we made wouldn’t have affected that at all or whether it’s sending 2FA codes or not. It sounds like coincidental timing and I’d recommend reaching out to the support team directly for help with that using the Chat tool in the lower right corner of the Console.

I hate it when new things show up that interrupt my work flow. How do i get to the old console?

@deewavo I can understand learning something new can interrupt workflows you’re used to! There isn’t a way to get to the old Console. We’re all in! Reach out to the support team if you need help finding your way, or here is a quick reference to where things moved.

Note that I’m out of office June 19 - 28th so some other folks will be chiming in and I’ll get caught up when I’m back. Thanks for all the feedback and questions so far!

why does my bank of america show updated a day ago in balances when it was refreshed 3 minutes ago?

Great documentation @heather with this change. @deewavo , may I suggest what I did. Simply open Heather’s guide in one window and your new Tiller in another and believe you’ll find it very easy to make this transition. Also learned a little more about the new features to and toggled them on (Description Matching, for example). Hope this helps.

Can a link or button to “open sheet” be added to the console?

I would expect it to be under the setting cog wheel. But I can’t find where it is on the new layout.

There’s a big Open Sheet button at the top right of the screen, above Refresh Accounts.

On my mobile the button isn’t visible, in portrait or landscape mode. Two screenshots below.

I don’t think you can open the spreadsheet from the mobile app or even safari or firefox on mobile. At least not on iphone. It does have the link if you are on the computer though.

Not @emill but I have the same question. Use case for me, personally, to mute or otherwise move an account level vs a connection level out of the way would be old bank or credit cards that are closed within a connection but that connection still has active accounts. Example: I had a checking and savings account with Bank A, but have closed the savings account while still using the checking. I can’t mute Bank A because then I’d lose the checking account, but keeping the closed savings account on my list of accounts adds clutter. I don’t want to delete the account entirely but I don’t need to see it on my active list anymore.

It is great that we can update the categories, can we also add to the mobile screen the ability to add tags in a future release?

How do i refresh my google sheet diretly? When I ask how the answer is you can’t???

Agree 100%…irefresh seems to be more delayed now

I have some accounts that I haven’t refreshed in 24 hours but still have the refresh icon grayed out. Does the system know that there isn’t new data and thus doesn’t allow a refresh?

What if we don’t want to bounce off of spreadsheets and signed up specifically because this approach is what you’ve dreamed of existing for years?

I’ve used Google Sheets because it’s where Tiller has historically focused, but Excel is my clear preference after decades of daily use. Anyone in corporate relies heavily on Excel, and that ecosystem remains dominant for those who do spreadsheet work in our personal lives.

Google’s early web‑based approach was useful, but still feels unintuitive compared to Excel. Its been many years with Microsoft offering full cloud‑based Excel, feature parity feels overdue. Some progress is there, and leveraging Excel in Claude has been excellent, but Sheets still gets the attention.

Tiller’s biggest gap has always been the lack of a real mobile app. Community workarounds like Glide and AppSheet are too fragile. With auto‑data‑fill and the new mobile experience on Sheets, the imbalance is even more obvious, Excel support still feels secondary.

When can we expect these new features in Excel, and will Tiller invest more seriously in this large, underserved Excel community?

Both Excel and Google Sheets support pivot tables.

In Sheets, Unhide all columns on the Accounts page, select the right hand table. Select Insert > Pivot Table. You probably want sum of Last Balance, and class and group in the rows. You might also add a Filter if you don’t want to display all accounts.

Hey Heather,

I’m having trouble linkinkg my TSP account.

It started acting up about 12 days ago.

Also, I got a new credit card and am unclear how I should get rid of the old one.

Thanks!
Jesse

Hi Heather,

I have a question about how to “re-add” a couple of schwab account back to a particular google sheet…

I have a bunch of Schwab accts, and my main tiller google sheet has most of them connected.
But, two Schwab accounts do NOT show up in the list of accounts (for my main tiller sheet).

I DO see these two accounts in the “Accounts” list.
And DO see them in some backup / experimental sheets.

I kind of remember that before there was a grid and I could select which accounts were connected to which sheets.

But I have poked around the UI and haven’t found a place where I can choose to ADD these accounts to my main sheet (just the buttons to delete or rename existing accounts).

How to do this?

Note: my main sheet hasn’t yet been moved to “direct fills”, maybe I need to do that?

Thx,

Eric

Hi,
I meant in the new console.
