You mean updating your balance? If you already have the manual account set up, to the right there’s a pencil icon to update it.
There is a new tiller console. It shows balances for all connected accounts and manual accounts. Since the data is there, it would be nice if it displayed the asset, liability and net totals.
I am not trying to update anything, and yes, I can easily see this info in my sheet.
Welcome, @kenstrend ![]()
This could be due to fill collisions if you’re using “Refresh Accounts” button, noted here. It could also be that the connection appears to refresh, but doesn’t actually pull new data. BoA is undergoing an upgrade to their open banking connection (they released a new API) and Yodlee as well as Plaid have to transition users over to that new connection. There was an outage for BoA as of yesterday so that could be related.
@Lulu the “open sheet” button is intentionally missing on mobile because opening the actual sheet on mobile isn’t a great experience and hence why we’re building out more mobile features to make it easier to accomplish key tasks from your phone, while leaving the heavy lifting to the computer.
@mc8bt thanks for the use case on the individual account piece. I see that more as an “archive” type of function rather than mute. Mute is specifically about the refresh attention and that happens at the connection level. I think a separate “archive” option for individual accounts makes sense.
@CHILL great idea! This is my hope, yes ![]()
If you’re meaning “fill” here, that’s right that there isn’t a way to directly fill the sheet anymore with Direct Fills. There are a few reasons why data can be delayed if you use the Refresh Accounts button, noted here that we hope to be able to improve.
@dminches this sounds like bad behavior or a bug to me. If you’re still seeing an issue please write to support@tiller.com and just ask them to pass to me.
@captainbecks you’ve still got all the same spreadsheet focused features we’ve always had, and the new Console provides a few improvements to how accounts are organized/refreshed. You’re not losing anything here. These changes are just the start of a foundation that allows us to broaden our reach to help more people. Is there an aspect of the spreadsheet based approach you feel is missing that would make Tiller more complete for you or are you having a concern that the spreadsheet approach will go away?
@jesse.miller82 please write to support@tiller.com for help with this issue. Thanks.
@eric.lee.abcd if you click on the sheet’s name (left nav) you should land on the Linked Accounts page for the sheet and there is a “Manage Links” button just to the right of the search option where you can link additional accounts to the sheet. Does that help? And yes, you should move your main sheet (assuming it’s Google) to Direct Fills
but that doesn’t impact the Linked Accounts/Manage Links flow here.
@Rdeutsch328 thanks for your feedback here. I anticipate us starting on feature parity for some of the features for Excel this next development cycle that will start in a ~2 weeks. However, Direct Fills and the automatic fill of data may not be on deck because of technical constraints imposed by Microsoft.
@buzzmaster1 noted on your feature request here ![]()
Yes, “Manage Links” was the missing piece!
I have also upgraded to “Direct Fills” for my “main tiller sheet” now.
Note: I did notice that with “Direct Fills”, the Date column in “Balance History” is now getting filled with “date/time” values (like “6/30/2026 11:31:18” instead of “6/30/2026”) for newly added rows. I’m not sure if that is intentional, but I think it is “mostly harmless”.
But, I’m happy to have found the “manage links” functionality.
Eric
This morning, my Costco credit card (Citibank - Yodlee connection) was showing as Recently Refreshed with a last refresh date that was more than 24 hours old. The Refresh All button did not catch this account and I could not refresh manually because it was grayed out. I did an edit credentials and it looks like I just needed to re-authorize Tiller access to this account. Once I did that, it updated with a new balance and new transactions.
I know that after a couple/few days with no connection, the console would have told me the account needed some attention. It would be nice if Needs Attention had been visually flagged today since the Refresh button was not available and the last refresh date was older than 24 hours.
I would also like to suggest that the new Console include a link to the Institution Alert page to make it easier to find and review. Maybe near the bottom of the left hand side?
Agree with having a link on the Console to the Institution Alert page. I rarely have issues with connections anymore, but when I do it’s tricky to find that page.
This morning my Fidelity balances and holdings were stale, so I attempted to manually refresh. It’s been stuck at Refreshing for more than two hours now. Refreshing the page and logging out and back into the console does not fix it. I would expect this to timeout after some much shorter period.
My Fidelity balances are stale this morning too. I suspect it is a Fidelity issue with end of month/end of quarter processing going on.
You might try an Edit Credentials to stop the spinning circle refresh.
Thanks, editing credentials stopped the spinning, but it still pulled stale balances from Yodlee. We may have to wait until tomorrow for Yodlee to see Fidelity’s next daily balance update at 6am EDT.
@martha.rudkin (or anyone else) if you see this behavior again (a specific institution is stuck in “recently refreshed” and it’s been more than 15 minutes), please write to support@tiller.com and ask them to pass to me so I can investigate further.
This is unexpected behavior and possibly got introduced with new Console changes, but we had seen this in the old Console too so maybe just flakiness with how the statuses are supposed to affect that button.
sorry - I’ve read the support docs and I can’t figure out how to access the settings on a sheet. I’m sure I’m missing something really simple! Where do I access this?
Also, where can I get help on auto cat? It runs then never categorizes anything…
You can access the settings for a sheet by clicking the gear icon in the upper right when a sheet is selected, right next to the open sheet button. However, there aren’t really “settings” anymore other than the Unlink option and to check the fill service for your sheet. If you’re looking for AutoCat settings those are on the Transactions view > dropdown next to Run AutoCat
As far as AutoCat not working if it’s a Sidebar Fills sheet and you were previously using AI Suggest, that feature is no longer available for Sidebar Fills sheets and you’ll want to upgrade that sheet to using Direct Fills for AutoCat/AI Suggest to continue working.
I’d recommend reaching out to support@tiller.com for help with the AutoCat issue.
I had finally moved past my issues with refresh by simply deleting Venmo and manually adding those transactions. The console was stable and worked for me pretty much every day. Now the new console refresh accounts is just random. I’m currently stuck with none of the refresh buttons enabled… I’m about to embark on a journey of editing each and every set of credentials just to get my accounts refreshed. I’m all for improvements - but you simply can’t keep releasing software without adequate testing. We’re paying customers, not paid QA engineers. I don’t appreciate being the guinea pig for every new feature. I know you think all of these improvements are great, but the long term effect of disrupting users’ workflows will ultimately be to the detriment of you product and company.
Thanks for your feedback here @tim486 I’m sorry it hasn’t been a great improvement for you yet.
We did do pretty extensive QA, including with our beta group, and these types of issues were not reported during those several weeks of QA. Issues that were surfaced were addressed promptly before this release.
The challenge comes when software is released at scale. Even with our group of beta testers, it’s not going to be a 100% coverage because everyone has different banks and they all behave differently.
I appreciate you surfacing the issue, and I’m asking the team to take a look so we can invest more to make sure this is working right for customers.
For anyone else who may be encountering the issue @tim486 is describing
Please write to support@tiller.com first and send a screenshot of what you’re seeing on the Console there and ask them to pass to me. If you use edit credentials to fix things, we don’t have what we need to diagnose/fix the underlying issue.
Although I only have two connections through Yodlee, my experience through the release of the software has been bug free. Like you said Heather, it depends on the institutions that feed through Yodlee and Plaid that you get different results with the console. We’re talking over 10,000+ institution connections and I’m sorry that @tim486 is having issues but it’s truly impossible to test software with that many combinations. I think leadership does a great job of addressing it with their Beta group. And follow up with their support team. And yes although I have only two connections there are others in the Beta group who anecdotally have 20. I believe that every effort to test things is being made. My two cents , thanks!
Petty much my experience as well and seemingly nothing to do with which bank accounts - it’s the tiller front end that isn’t consistently allowing us to refresh the whole set of accounts every day. Someone said this was going to be fixed so that the refresh would reset every midnight, but I don’t see that happening.
I also had to abandon the yodlee connection to my primary bank, which had been working perfectly. Fortunately, the Plaid connection works as it should, although adding that meant deduping all my old yodlee transactions.
All this frustration started soon after my free trial was over and the increased prices were announced. Not a good look.
I have put a lot of work into customizing several of the tiller sheets and actually had a very useful working operation that suits my needs. I hope that’s not going to be thrown into turmoil every time an “improvement” is pushed out.
@braxton.ponder - it’s not random
it’s currently on a 24 hour timer. So if you use the Refresh Accounts button today at 12PM ET, it won’t be available for use again until 12P ET tomorrow. The fix is a work in progress and I am hoping the “reset on calendar day” old behavior gets pushed out this week. Caveat, the “calendar day” reset will be 12AM Pacific, rather than local time, but hopefully folks aren’t waiting around at 3AM eastern to refresh. This tradeoff made the change simple to push out, getting specific to a user’s local timezone is more complicated and would have taken longer to get right/push out.
Did you use the Data Cleanup workflow explicitly meant to make this faster/easier/automated? ![]()
We just pushed a change that should address the weird/different Refresh Accounts behavior. The Refresh Accounts button will reset each day at 12AM Pacific time.
Let us know if that’s not what you’re experiencing. So if you’ve used it already today, it should be available for you tomorrow (so long as it’s after 12AM Pacific).
But surely you see that if we not watching the clock with nothing else to do but refresh tiller, this approach means that the refresh will necessarily be later every day. If I don’t get to it one morning and refresh in the afternoon, then I am trapped into an afternoon reset cycle (or manually refresh 15 accounts, or wait until the next morning, or some other inconvenient workaround). The point is that this was poorly thought out and a step backward in convenience for a system whose primary value is convenience.
@braxton.ponder did you see the update I just posted after my reply to you? This behavior is fixed/changed.
The 24 hour timer was not intentional, it got changed (as a part of work actually not related to this Console redesign).
No, I didn’t see your update, but thanks for letting me know. That has been a daily irritation and it will be great get to back to a one-click refresh. (Actually I was pleased to see today I had the refresh-all button available but didn’t realize that a real fix and not just dependent on whenever I last refreshed). I think my workflow can finally get back to normal/easy! ![]()
