Introducing the Tiller Savings Goal Tracker

Hi - I seem to be having an issue installing the template and not sure why… when i install the template in excel and attempt to fill out the first savings goal, cells are calculating to ‘#VALUE!’ out of the box. I have went through and cleaned up some of the hidden spreadsheets as well as tried this on a fresh spreadsheet install with no luck. anyone run into this? see below screenshot:

In Google, you also have to use the dropdowns in columns A and B, etc to select the goal. It will show a pie chart.
Then underneath, where you have your error it will be in tabular format.

Welcome @kmbush :wave:

We have seen this issue in Excel and it seems to be an intermittent Excel bug. We could never track down what was causing it and an Excel or computer restart seems to clear it up and we’re not sure why.

@heather @kmbush

I had this same issue the first time I installed the Excel version of the template. For me, it was user error :roll_eyes:. I didn’t see that the template was still installing and thought it was finished. After some clean up in my Tiller Money template, I tried a second time. This time I noticed a small progress bar showing the installation progress. I waited until it was fully completed and it worked correctly .

Hi @kmbush as @heather stated it’s intermittent. What I also found to help is exiting Excel entirely (as opposed to just closing the document), and then re-launching Excel and re-opening my document. In extreme cases restarting your computer can also do the trick.

Hello, I am able to enter my goals and the accounts, however the graphic charts do not show. I followed instructions from another post, namely saving the file, shutting down EXCEL, reopening EXCEL, shutting down and restarting the computer. Still, the graphics do not display. If anyone has any other ideas.?

hi @rfandsj if it’s not too much trouble can you please manually delete the tab and re-install it. If it’s still not working please write to support; You can send a new message using the blue chat widget in the lower right corner of your Console at https://my.tillerhq.com or write to support@tillerhq.com

Not being able to track a single savings goal across multiple accounts is one of the reasons I will not be renewing my subscription this year :frowning:

There is a workaround for using multiple accounts to fund a single goal. Please see my explanation:

I’m afraid this is a big disappointment for me as well. If I had everything in one account, it would be pretty easy to track it without this feature. I’m really wanting to use Tiller like I used YNAB. Only stopped YNAB because it stopped downloading brokerage account transactions. Hoping I can find peace with Tiller and how it works.

Sorry, @amypfaffman, but, with the initial release, we were trying to strike a balance between power and simplicity. The feature works in the context of a single account to keep the workflow simple and intuitive. I can see your argument for allowing more accounts though and we will keep this in mind for future updates. Thanks for sharing your perspective.
