Investment Allocation & Concentration Dashboard

Overview

Question answered: How is my portfolio allocated, and where am I taking concentrated risk?

This Google Sheets dashboard turns Tiller Investments Holdings data into two practical views:

  • Asset Allocation summarizes U.S. equity, international equity, fixed income, multi-asset, cash, and other/unclassified holdings.
  • Concentration Analysis highlights the largest securities, funds, and account exposures so users can quickly spot where too much of the portfolio may depend on one position.
  • Security Classification provides a transparent mapping layer so classifications can be reviewed and adjusted.
  • Coverage and reconciliation checks make it clear when holdings are classified, excluded, or need review.

The dashboard updates dynamically when the underlying Holdings data changes. It uses native Google Sheets formulas and formatting only—no Apps Script or third-party add-ons.

Clean, shareable spreadsheet:

Installation

  1. Open the clean spreadsheet using the link above.
  2. Choose File → Make a copy to create your own editable version.
  3. Use it with a Tiller-powered Google spreadsheet that contains the standard Holdings and Holdings History sheets.
  4. Preserve the standard source-sheet headers. The dashboard formulas locate source columns by header name, so normal column-order changes are supported.
  5. Review the README - Start Here tab before replacing the included anonymized sample data with your own Holdings data.

Setup

  1. Open Security Classification and review the security-to-asset-class mapping.
  2. Add or revise mappings for any securities marked REVIEW or Other / Unclassified.
  3. Confirm that the allocation coverage and household-investment totals reconcile to the Holdings feed.
  4. Review any stated assumptions before treating mixed-asset or unclassified positions as fully allocated.

Usage

  1. Let Tiller refresh the Holdings source data.
  2. Open Asset Allocation to review current dollars and percentages by asset class.
  3. Open Concentration Analysis to identify the largest positions and account-level concentrations.
  4. Investigate REVIEW or unclassified items before making portfolio decisions.
  5. Revisit the classification mapping when new holdings appear.

Notes

  • Built with native Google Sheets functionality only.
  • No Apps Script, external service, or third-party add-on is required.
  • The published copy contains anonymized/sample data rather than personal financial information.
  • Classification is intentionally transparent: users can see and change assumptions rather than relying on a hidden black-box allocation.

FAQ

Does it update automatically?
Yes. Dashboard formulas reference the standard Holdings structure and recalculate when the source data changes.

What should I do with REVIEW items?
Assign the appropriate asset class in Security Classification, then confirm the coverage totals.

Can I test it without exposing my own portfolio?
Yes. The shared contest copy uses clean sample/anonymized data and can be copied for testing.

Like minds! I built almost the exact same layout minus the “Concentration Analysis” view. Thought about submitting but you beat me to punch.
