Did you select the category/categories you are using (see the " Configure the Transfers sheet" section in the first post)? Did you apply the category/categories to the transactions on both sides of the transfer (see the âTo Useâ section in the first post)? Judging from the image you posted, it appears you have set the category for âTransfer Outâ, but maybe not for âTransfer Inâ.
Thanks Joseph,
Yes I have done all of what is suggested and have both transfer Out and transfer in for all transfer categories. Additionally, the âLinked transfersâ column in transactions tab has no data and the formula does not update (as new transactions are filled)?
Does this assist?
So on the Transactions sheet, is there a dropdown for each cell in the Linked Transfers column? If so, is it showing items in the dropdown? If not, click on one of the cells and then go to the data validation settings to see if there is a formula assigned to the cell.
Hi Joseph,
Thanks for the response. In the linked transfers column there is a formula in some cells, but not updated ones? Data validation shows no formulas?
My apologies, I just looked through the documentation above and it was missing an important step, setting up the data validation on the Transactions sheet. I added the steps above, hereâs what you need to do:
Configure the Transactions Sheet
- Select the âLinked Transfersâ column on the âTransactionsâ sheet.
- Go to the âDataâ menu and select the âData Validationâ button and then choose âData ValidationâŚâ
- In the âSettingsâ tab, change the âAllowâ dropdown to âListâ, and set the âSourceâ value to
='Linked Transfers'!$O$2:$O$5000
(make the 5000 larger if you have more than 5000 transactions on your Transactions sheet). - Click the âOKâ button to accept the changes and close the Data Validation settings.
Once youâve done that, then you should see the transactions appear in the new dropdown youâve reacted on the Linked Transfers cells.
Joseph,
Thanks it looks like that has done the job! For some reason when I copied the sheet it did not copy the formula?? Maybe you can add this to the troubleshooting notes?
Thanks again, the add-on looks great!
