Maintenance Error

 I used to occasionally get a maintenance error and didn’t give it much thought. Now I’m getting it all the time! I could just “fill sheets” a second or third time and it would work–but not any more. The program is struggling.

What can I do/try to reduce the number of maintenance errors?

I get that happening to me on occasion as well. It seems to come and go in frequency - some days not at all and others enough to frustrate me into leaving and coming back later. I would also be interested in hearing solutions to try.

Sorry you’re running into these maintenance errors. I don’t know 100% what’s causing them, but it’s likely specific to your spreadsheet. Some guesses:

  1. You have a lot of Transaction and/or Balance History data (many accounts linked, with lots of data for many years)
  2. There is some modification/customization that’s causing an issue with the sidebar being able to read the data the way it needs to
  3. It’s an intermittent Google error/slowness

We are working on ways to improve this overall, and our biggest step forward was Direct Fills. We don’t yet have a way to switch your existing sheets (and I’m not 100% that would even fix this maintenance error if we could), but you can certainly start fresh in a new sheet and get the Direct Fills experience.

We didn’t post an announcement about this release yet because we don’t have the seamless transition experience for existing sheets, and we didn’t want people to feel like they needed to start over in a new sheet unnecessarily.

Here are some guides:
