Greetings! I am starting the transition from Quicken Desktop (Windows) to Tiller (Excel). I am curious to learn how others have handled this transition. Have you added Quicken transaction data to Tiller’s transaction tab? If so, how did you handle Quicken split transactions? I am thinking of merely creating a separate tab in the Tiller file to house Quicken data and not merge the two. Lots more questions, but this is a good start.
Would love to hear how others handled this transition.
Thank you,
mucrick
Welcome to Tiller John @mucrick.
I don’t know specifically about how Quicken handles split transactions, but you can add any data you want to the Transactions sheet in Tiller. The way to split transactions in Tiller is to have multiple rows for the item. If you split it with the sidebar you’ll get a special transaction id, but the transaction id isn’t required for most of the reports to run. (Keep the transaction ID column for newly imported data even if it’s not populated for all your old data.)
@mucrick John, I was able to find the following Quicken to Tiller story that might help answer some transition questions. I also found this help guide Importing your Quicken Data Into Tiller.
