Missing Transactions - Not Actually Duplicates!

I’ve noticed over the last several months, probably coinciding with recent efforts to prevent duplication, that Tiller is now omitting transactions that appear to be duplicates but are not. For example:

  • I’m going on a trip with friends this fall. I paid for the cabin, and the friends are all sending me the same amount of money to cover their portion. But only one of these are showing up per day, I believe, because Tiller thinks they are duplicates. If they come on separate days they’re fine.
  • Also, I have a recurring transfer every month to transfer money to my and my wife’s separate IRAs. Same amount in both. I had to split the transfers into separate days because Tiller was consistently omitting one of them.

I think I would rather have duplicate transactions than missing transactions. At least with duplicates I can see the problem. It’s much harder to catch missing transactions!

Yikes! I think I would work with Tiller support (support@tiller.com or via the Tiller console) so they can help you troubleshoot better. You’re right, though duplicates are bad, missing is worse.

Yeah thanks @jpfieber, this post is half bug report, and half a warning to other users that this may be happening to them as well. I’ll reach out to support also.
