New Amazon import process just released on Google Marketplace

is there an instruction on how to use this? thank you

Yes, after you install the tool there is a link to the documentation in the sidebar. This is the documentation: GitHub - daveinlosbarriles/TillerTools: Provides Amazon import and QuickSearch functions to Tiller financial worksheets ¡ GitHub. While the documentation is quite detailed, the tool itself is simple and takes just a few minutes to use.

I finally got around to trying this. Impressive! Seems I might have to break down my 22MB zip file that goes back to 2001 though as my first attempt to import everything timed out. I tried again just doing this year and it worked perfectly. I’ll try expanding the date to pull in prior years (I don’t actually need to import all the way back to 2001 of course).

1 suggestion so far: If the “Order Status” is “Cancelled”, don’t create the $0 transaction (perhaps provide a user setting to select this behavior?). I have some scheduled deliveries, and if I ‘skip’ a delivery, it puts it in the transactions as “Cancelled” with a $0 amount. This can be confusing since I never actually purchased/recieved the item, but having the transaction there suggests I did and didn’t have to pay anything for it.

Another suggestion: If the Merchant column exists, fill in Amazon (or have an option for what to fill in).

Tip: On the “AMZ Import” sheet, in the “Payment Type” section, I had 30 different payment types from over the last 20+ years. Many of them I didn’t recognize. I found that if you request the “Payment Options” data from the same page you requested the “Your Orders” data from, and then open the “Your Payment Methods/Saved Cards.csv” file you’ll get more information about each payment type, including Bank Name, Card Issuer, Co Brand, Credit Card Product Name, Debit or Credit, Expiration Date, Card or BankAccount, etc. I found many of mine were PrePaid cards. Many I still don’t know for sure, but at least I know the Institution and type of card.

Thanks for doing this @daveahlers ! I remember your post from when this first broke. Can’t believe how much you popped off! It works really well!

Do I need to modify the column headers on my transactions sheet before I run this? I’m following the instructions and I keep getting an error. I’m sorry if I’m missing something obvious–I’m not a coder and this is the first time I’ve tried using any special extensions on my sheet.

no, you should not need to modify any column headers. What error are you getting?

I am traveling abroad right now so responses may be delayed.

thanks, I’ve never heard of that column. Is that part of a newer template? I’ll add this to the feature request list.

makes sense to me. I’ll add it to the future list. Can you paste in a sample of two or three records from your CSV file?

I don’t think it’s part of the Foundation template, but one I’ve started using (I have AutoCat populate most of the merchants). Perhaps if you can make the feature somewhat generic, like enter any column name you want, and then enter what you’d like automatically filled in.

Sure, here’s a couple with minor redactions:

At first, I thought I should just rename the Account column to Account_ID, but then realized I could really screw things up if that’s not correct. Thanks for your help–I really appreciate it.

just seeing your message now. I thought the default tiller template included the account ID column, but apparently not. I think this column exists so that if you ever have two accounts with the same name from different banks or within the same bank, they will be tracked separately. I’m not sure why your template doesn’t have it. You will need to add the Account ID column in two places: the transactions tab, and the Accounts tab.

@jpfieber any more insight on the account ID column versus the unique account identifier column?

My template as account ID in both accounts tab and transactions tab. It is also on the balance history tab. It also has those columns on a fresh install of the sheet, so I am unsure why yours might not.

If you modify the account name, the ‘Unique Account Identifier’ is going to change for that account, but presumably the ‘Account Id’ will not.

I don’t know. I’ve had it since 2019 but those columns weren’t in there.

Well, that was an easy fix. Thank you so much!

Glad that worked for you, but it is interesting that your sheet was missing the columns,

@daveahlers Thanks for taking the time to create this and share it with the community!! Worked perfectly right out of the gate!:clap:
