This morning I went through my usual daily routine. I hit refresh on the console and then went to my Tiller spreadsheet. All of my accounts are via Plaid. And I’ve had zero issues. Everything works exactly as it should until this morning.
My main credit card showed a balance of more than $7,965.16. It should have shown a balance of $300+. I went right to Chase to see what I’d bought and lo and behold, Chase said my balance was $300+ and everything there was totally kosher.
And then I saw it. The $7,965.16 number was exactly the amount of my available credit.
WHEW. I changed the amount in balance history and restarted my pacemaker. I’ll check closely tomorrow and report here.
@susandennis please definitely let me know if you see this happen with your credit card balance again on tomorrow’s refresh. We did push some changes related to Plaid balances yesterday but it should have only been related to if we don’t get current balance to fall back to available, but this really should only be applicable to bank (not credit) type accounts.
So if it happens again we’d like to debug/troubleshoot with Plaid.
We are hearing other reports of this so our team is taking a closer look and will either roll out a fix or roll these changes back. Sorry for the scare and inconvenience.
For now your options to deal with this incorrect balances are
Open Balance History (hidden sheet by default) and delete the incorrect rows
Edit the incorrect rows’ balance to be the correct balance
We do not recommend removing and re-adding as this creates a bigger mess and also will not solve the problem.
@susandennis and anyone else following along, we did push a change we hope fixes this but it might not reflect the correct balance until you have a transaction flow through for that account or until Plaid decides to give a balance update. Their balance updates work different than yodlee, just refreshing the account doesn’t necessarily pull in a new balance if there hasn’t been an updated transaction.
I saw my balances fall in our investment institution as well. I removed updated rows from the Balance History for now – I’m expecting a couple of transactions today so, we’ll see what happens on the balances
@ramerkw as far as I know this should have only applied to credit card balances. I’d recommend reaching out to support directly if you’re noticing new behavior with a non-credit card account via Plaid.
