How is the YTD Net Budget formula calculated on the YTD Comparison Sheet. I have a formula warning on my sheet and not sure if I should be concerned. It appears to be just an inconsistent formula message ???

When I hover over the cell it states it “formula in the cell differs from the formulas in this area of the spreadsheet. It’s of those yellow triangle warning signs. Not sure if this is an issue or not. That’s why I am asking how this formula is calculated ??

thanks

I am not familiar with this sheet, however, I have see errors like this in excel, and they are typically nothing to worry about. As an example A1, A2 and A4 might be a formula to sum, and A3 is a division. Excel sees that as an inconsistent formula, even though this might be intentional. If you see the expected amounts in the highlighted section, and you haven’t been updating formulas for your own purposes, then I would say it shouldn’t be a worry.

That’s what I thought. I am still in need of understanding how the Net YTD Budget number calculated if anyone else can explain how it is generated.

Thanks

Hi @mjcoleman0 if you click into the number you should see a formula in the formula bar, likely figures in the hidden part of the sheet, but what’s considered should be total income budget numbers subtract expense budget (so based on what’s on your categories sheet).

I understand what you are saying but the only number that I am still struggling with how the YTD Net

Net Budget is calculated. All other numbers and the formulas that sheet I can follow and understand the origins. If you could explain the calculation of the YTD Net Budget thaty would be great.

thank you for your response

```auto
=SUMIFS(W2:W,U2:U,"Income",V2:V,"<>Hide")-SUMIFS(W2:W,U2:U,"Expense",V2:V,"<>Hide")
```

This is the formula in the sheets version of the ytd comparison sheet. If I am reading it right, it is taking the income type budget less hidden minus expense type less hidden. On mine, the net budget is 0 because I have a zero based budget. BUt in your case it looks like perhaps you have budgeted income of ~$500 more than you have budgeted expenses.
If you check your sheet and the formula is different, can you post the formula here to see if I can figure it out.

This is the formula I have

=IFERROR(SUMIFS(T2#,S2#,“Income”)-SUMIFS(T2#,S2#,“Expense”),“”)

It looks similar to the one in my sheet, so I think that is what it is doing: giving the difference between budgeted income and budgeted expense through date. Can you verify if the amount in ytd net budget is equal to the budgeted cash flow amount through date? If that is not what the formula is doing, can you tell me what column T and S are doing?

Bingo. It is the difference between budgeted income and budgeted expense.

Thank you for your help on this

Much appriciated
