I recently discovered that I failed to connect a replacement Chase Southwest card that was issued in late December. As a result, transactions from that card have not been downloading into Tiller.
My 2026 Tiller sheet only contains transactions from January 1 forward, so I’m trying to recover approximately five months of missing transactions (roughly 10 per month).
A few days ago I noticed my omission/failure and connected the replacement card (“Chase Southwest 9999”), and it now downloads new transactions correctly. However, none of the historical transactions from January through May were imported.
To troubleshoot, I created a brand-new spreadsheet containing only this Chase account, hoping it would pull historical activity, but it still did not retrieve the missing transactions.
My questions:
Is there any way to force a refresh or historical download for a newly connected Chase account?
Has anyone successfully recovered older transactions after connecting a replacement card months later?
If historical retrieval isn’t possible through Tiller/Yodlee, is importing a CSV from Chase my best option?
I can certainly contact Tiller Support directly, but I thought this might be a useful question for the community since others may encounter the same issue with replacement credit cards.
I don’t know for sure, but I suspect if the card hasn’t been connected before, there isn’t a way to get the back transactions for it. If it had been connected before and you started a new template, I believe the older transactions are cached (not positive about that) and would be downloaded to the new template. I think your best bet is going to be the csv import.
Thanks Joseph. I thought connecting any card new to Tiller would bring in those historical transactions of something like 90 days. But it did not - even with a brand new foundation template sheet with ONLY that single Chase account connected. Thank you for your thoughts.
@Larry You could try Plaid in a new template as it might pull the transaction history it has access to. Once you get the transactions you could copy paste them into your main template.
Chad or others, I want to try that, but when I go to add a spreadsheet the link accounts presents Chase (and all my other former accounts) as a yodlee aggregator account; how do I get a fresh option including Plaid)?
Add a new account is where you get the option to change aggregator. I would suggest starting a new sheet and link that one to plaid so you can make sure it comes in correctly before linking it to your current sheet so you can 1. verify it is working and 2. see any duplicates you need to take care of.
Several folks suggested this. A Plaid pull to a new (now deleted but temp) sheet worked. In case you find yourself doing this, here are a couple of tips or reminders: I believe to create a new sheet, I had to connect one existing account. That meant I had to filter out the transactions I wanted from those pulled from the one existing account. The Plaid “pulls” rows don’t match up perfectly, and when I added those to my real perm Tiller Sheet Transactions tabbed worksheet, it broke Category validation, which I needed to repair. (I used Claude to help with that.) Thanks all! Larry
