Report | Link Value of a Manual Account from a Cell in a Custom Added Sheet

Forgive me if this has been handled and I saw several somewhat related inquiries but most were old.

I have a Promissory Note for payments from sale of business. I approximate closely the balance remaining on the current date in a cell on a Custom tab (sheet) I added to the Foundation Template. (Just a simple calculation.)

I’d love to show that value in my Balances Report by a Custom [Cell reference] link. Possible? If possible, where | how would I insert the Custom cell link?

Are you seeking to see the value on the Balance sheets?

To show the value on the balance sheet, there needs to be data for the account in the balance history sheet. I feel like your best bet would be to track it as a manual account and periodically add the amount. Then you would use the account sheet to categorize the new manual account as asset/liability and a group if you wish.

The other way to do it would be to create one line for the new account in the balance history sheet and to reference the cell in the balance column. However, doing it this way would not track the balance over time and would only give you a one time value that would change every time the other cell is updated. It therefore could not be used to calculate net worth over time.

Both accounts and balance history sheets are hidden by default.
