Seemingly every account is duplicating transactions?

I’m still not seeing duplicates, two fills after I restored the version.

I also haven’t seen a new transaction in that time, which corresponds to the Hello Money email.
So, my Transactions sheet is unchanged during that time.

Balance History:

I had the issue this morning, but thank goodness a restore and re-fill worked. Thanks Heather!

Phew! good news

I think the push last night fixed it but unfortunately it does require that restore step to get the fix. Ugh such a mess.

My sheet is still completely broken. I now show over $3 million in uncategorized transactions, and I can’t go restore the previous version because it’s stuck permanently stuck in the last portion of “syncing offline changes.”

I restored access to the sheet by disabling offline sync at the document as well as drive-wide level, then refreshing several times to get through freezes in the version history (I think the sheet size may be an issue, so perhaps I’ll take the advice of other tiller users to create a new sheet every year)

However, running the sync again today, I still get a bunch of junk transactions filled in
re-ran the sync, and now I just have a little over $1 million in uncategorized transactions. 3532 updates filled is nowhere near normal, and now I have $1.6 million in uncategorized transactions. So, still not resolved.

Did you restore to a version BEFORE Jan 21 12:41PM EST @shineyspikeything - this specific timing is VERY important to the restore workflow.

Just wanted to share another data point here that I restored to a version before the timestamp mentioned, ran a “fill sheets”, and am very quickly back to normal. I could have saved myself a little panic if I had opened the console or extension first to see the pop-up message with the fix, but I appreciate the rapid response and follow-up.

To David and any others concerned about this, I’ve used Tiller for a couple years now (part of the great Mint Migration), and have never encountered anything like this, or any other bugs at all, really. Still, bugs happen. Ask anyone who’s ever pushed code. Given the response by Tiller, I’m very confident in staying put. Thanks, folks, for sorting it out.

This caused me a lot of grief over the past 2 days, but all good now following Heather’s instructions just now.
Prior to this solution - yesterday I found 4,500 Dups, corrected by spending hours reviewing all, and then today I found another 1,500 Dups. Decided to come here to look for a solution and found it. I’ve been using Tiller for years and will continue. I was a software developer and have seen worst things than this. I learned from mistakes and so will they.

@heather Just wanted to check about this. I haven’t seen this yet and I refresh/refill every day. Is it unlikely at this point that I will experience this issue, or could it still randomly appear weeks from now (which would require me to restore the 21st and then have to recategorize all transactions after that point)? Thanks.

If you haven’t seen it, you won’t see it

As noted previously the issue only occurred where one or more accounts had balance updates to fill but no transactions to fill. In that situation the transaction watermarks didn’t get properly migrated to a newer watermarking system and therefore got completely wiped so Tiller Money Feeds couldn’t recognize that the account had ever had transactions filled.

If you didn’t see the duplicates its because that criteria didn’t apply or we pushed the fix for that specifically before you filled your sheet again.

@shineyspikeything wanted to check in with you on whether the restore process worked for you.

Thanks for your feedback @darelius, and welcome,

It does not. I can restore it to the old state, but then when I run tiller, it adds back in a lot of transactions. It goes from 33 transactions need categorizing to 1203 need categorizing. So I know it’s still broken.

@shineyspikeything - I’m reaching out via our official support channel (email).

@heather I didn’t have this issue back in Dec/Jan, but now I seem to have something like it. Over the past 24 hours my sheet keeps getting more duplicates added to it on every 6 hour autofill. I now have 5.5K duplicate transactions going back 6 years. Seems pointless to do a “restore to a previous version” if it’s just gonna keep adding more duplicates on every fill. I reached out via chat, but Twalane didn’t seem to understand and asked about whether I restored to a version before Jan 21, which wouldn’t make sense as that’s over two months ago and I would lose all my recent changes. Any help here?

hi @pnorton just wanted to share a reply here for those following along that we’re handling this via our intercom support channel. For others, if you encounter this issue, please write to our support team about it via the chat on the Console at https://my.tillerhq.com. Thanks!
