In 2021, I starting using custom google apps scripts in conjunction with Tiller to manage an increasingly complex set of AutoCat rules (+500) and categories (+300). I fingerprint each transaction that matches a rule with a unique ruleID so that I can track rule performance and run rules in prioritized groups based on their most recent performance.
