I have changed the names of most of my checking and credit card accounts. Now, my Tiller balances in the Account reconciliation tab are wrong. I verified that the names are all new for the month that I’m reconciling. Do I need to change ALL of the account names, even for prior months, to get the balances correct? What about prior years? Or, is there a way to ‘override’ the balances for this month which will continue forward with correct month end balances in future months?
I would update all your data to use the new names to be consistent for what it is really the same account. This affects more than just account reconciliation.
I second Mark’s point. I would also add that on occasion I have [carefully] edited the Balance History to override the balance for a renamed/closed account.
