Balance is not updating when creating a manual transaction

Also, the Balance is not updating when viewing the Balance Sheet. It used to when entering a manual transaction.

Does it work when you use these steps to update your balance: Tracking balances for manual accounts | Tiller Help Center

or just with the manual transaction tool?

For the manual transaction tool, you’ll want to wait about a minute to let everything load when you’re setting each item. We’ve seen that this tool can take a few moments to load and isn’t instantaneous.

I’ve seen this problem and think I may understand why it is happening in my case. I have a manual account that I maintain using Manual Transactions with Update Balance checked. I did 3 transactions in a row, but the Balances tab (Google Sheets) showed the balance after the first transaction. When I looked at the Balance History tab, there were indeed 3 history entries for the manual account and the balances were correctly updated for each f the 3 transactions. Each entry had today’s date and sequential time stamps.

The Balances tab had the largest value from the set of 3 balance history entries. I initially thought it was possibly using the oldest entry by mistake so I manually changed the time values a few different ways. That didn’t make a difference. When I deleted the oldest 2 of the 3 entries then the Balances tab showed the correct, most recent balance. Also, when I increased the date on the most recent transaction it used that for the Balances tab.

Is it possible that the Balance sheet only selects by Date when finding the most recent entry in Balance History?

Entering multiple manual transactions for the same manual account with the same date must update the balance for every transaction to be able to maintain the correct value in Balance History. However, if Balances doesn’t identify the correct entry from Balance History then it isn’t very helpful in this case. I either need to delete the extra Balance History entries for that date, or I will do the math on the side and just do a Manual Account Balance Update once after entering the transactions.

Are you saying the Balances sheet is not reporting the top-most row of entries when the Date is the same?

I believe it was displaying the balance from the 3rd entry, but can’t verify that because I deleted the extra entries. It was displaying the first one I created in the sequence of the 3 for the day.

I haven’t been able to reproduce what you’re describing

Thanks for trying to recreate. I’ll check more carefully if it happens again.

hi @donwilton2182 the Balance History is meant to look at date and timestamp and this is what it should report in the Balances sheet. What we typically see is that there’s some corruption in the Balance History sheet that would cause the correct balance to not be shown. Indeed perhaps if this happens next time let support know as well and we can take a closer look.
