how to always show negative numbers in red?
You can do this with “Conditional Formatting”, which involves selecting the area you want the formatting to apply to, and then creating a rule that says when the number is negative, apply the formatting I choose below….

Conditional formatting would work, but it might give you a lot of fragmented rules if you copy paste a lot. I use the below number format:
if you want this for the transaction sheet, apply this to the whole row except the header, and because of the way transactions are added when filled it’ll keep that formatting.
but either way works depending on what else you need and how you interact with your file

In addition, I feel this way has less of a performance impact compared to conditional formatting.
