I added a notes column to Savings Budget so I can quickly see why a category is way over budget. The problem is that note then shows up regardless of which month is selected. How can I make the note entry only visible for the month in which it was entered?
Hi Steve, can you share a screenshot of where you placed the note perhaps it’s the placement. You can inbox me here or write in to support using the blue chat widget in the lower right corner of your Console at https://my.tiller.com
Thanks for the response. Here is a screenshot from my Savings Budget sheet. The entries in the Notes column were made earlier in the year but continue to show up regardless of which month is being displayed. I want to find a way to only show the notes entry for the month in which it is entered. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Steve Duncan
Hi @steveduncan thanks for sharing that, I now get what you’re trying to do. I think that would entail implementing a formula or some script and those notes will have to be stored somewhere (like in a hidden part of the sheet) and retrieved similar to a database.
I can’t off the top of my head come up with something here. How good are you with spreadsheets? ![]()
That’s a good idea, but like Twalane pointed out, I think you’re going to need to create an additional sheet to do this and add it to the lookup. It might be possible to write the data to your notes on the Savings Budget sheet and have that write to the data sheet as well as display in the lookup cell (which would then get filtered by month like you want), but that’s a little out of my expertise.
