"No Rules in AutoCat Sheet"

Hi team!

AutoCat was working…but all of a sudden it isn’t.

Specifically, I run “AutoCat” and get the error “No rules present in AutoCat sheet.”

I have 170 rows in the AutoCat sheet:

Abbreviated it for privacy reasons :). Any idea how to troubleshoot?

Maybe try duplicating the AutoCat tab and reinstall AutoCat to clear out any weirdness, then copy-paste-values-only from your old to new to quickly get your rules back.

Hmmm…how would i reinstall AutoCat? Tried duplicating the sheet and deleting the old one. No dice.

After duplicating the AutoCat tab, delete the tab named AutoCat, and then run:
Extensions > Tiller Money Feeds > Launch > AutoCat

Not sure what the error was. Went through the suggested steps in the docs and didn’t fix.

Went to the Tiller console and started a new spreadsheet. Created an AutoCat sheet there. Duplicated it to my original sheet. Copy and pasted the other rules into the “Copy of AutoCat” sheet. Deleted original autocat sheet. Renamed “Copy of…” to “AutoCat.” Ran AutoCat. It worked.

This is not a solution, it is a ridiculous amount of work to have to go through due to an error on the part of the program. There should be a systemic solution to this. I am having the same problem but I have to believe there’s a solution on Tiller’s end. Is there not?

Is it possible you renamed the AutoCat tab to something else and that is the source of the error message?

I suspect the original post error was due to a leading space before the word Category in the header. It’s subtle visually, but that appears to be the case in the OP screen capture.

And I can reproduce the same error by either inserting a leading space before the word Category or adding one after.

Here’s what it looks like for me with a leading space before the word Category and this will produce the error. It visually appears okay, but AutoCat seems to be strict about the whitespace - it needs to exactly match.

Note that all the headers are treated in this exact match manor, so whitespace needs to be clean.

When @jwith fixed his issue by installing a new AutoCat sheet, it fixed it because it essentially restored the header row back to a working state - at least that’s my theory of what happened

Yeppers, I got this dreaded message today. But given Randy’s post, I noticed somehow the word “Category” in the AutoCat sheet header was completely vacant! Added that text and voila! all restored. Thanks all! Larry
