Recurring transactions?

Hello,

I have a number of regular transactions that I don’t want to have to specify 12 of in the transaction sheet for every one. How can I manually specify these same-priced monthly transactions automatically? These are for:

  • pre- & post-tax retirement contributions
  • loan repayments (for accounts that are unable to be linked)
  • tuition payments (from bank accounts that I’m uncomfortable linking)

I’m currently on a free trial & would really like to understand how to add things like this, since I can’t expect every account to be able to be linked through Tiller. Otherwise, the service is perhaps not for me.

Welcome. I’d be happy to be corrected by somebody on this, but I don’t believe there’s any way to automate the creation of manual transactions (though it’s an interesting suggestion!). You could create one and then copy-and-paste it multiple times, but I realize that’s not quite the same.

Tiller doesn’t have a solution for this at this time, @sean9182. Many users use the copy-paste solution that @dmetiller recommends. Just make a copy of your Transactions sheet to match up the formatting and column order, delete the existing transactions, and then add the recurring transactions you need.

There are also some solutions available in the community from users like @1Email2RuleThemAll.:

I have nearly 30 manual recurring transactions + other regular purchases for accounts that don’t connect. I have tried to get a script to work for entering the transactions, but I don’t have it correct yet. The copy/paste method is what I will do in the mean time for the recurring. If you are script savvy, then that could be an option for you. Even having to enter the manual transactions, I really find tiller to be a valuable tool for keeping track of my finances.

Thanks for sharing your experience @casilverthorn.96 hope you manage with the script eventually. Also glad to hear you’re getting such value from Tiller. We appreciate the feedback!
