Restoring the Google spreadsheet to a previous version

I’m a Tiller Money and Google Sheets newbie. I am using the Foundation Template with Google Sheets. I would like to restore it to a previous version using Google Sheets “History Versions”.

I’m signed into Tiller the Foundation Template displayed, I go into File → Version History → See Version History. I choose the version I want and hit the restore button, but I get this error message “Unable To Load File”. How can I restore to a previous version of my Foundation Template spreadsheet?

Also, can I delete the Foundation Template I’m currently using and create a new one from the beginning. How do I do this and link it to the Tiller Console?

Hi @walterdowis,

The restore error is a known Google Sheets issue that we’re trying to track down what’s causing it in our templates/ecosystem. We haven’t quite nailed down the specific action that breaks the restore functionality just yet.

If you need to restore to a previous version you can make a copy of the version you’re trying to restore (click the … next to the version and choose “make a copy”) - from there you can link the copy via the Tiller Money Feeds add-on and update sheets and it should feed data into that sheet pick up the transaction/balance feed where it left off.

Just open the copy from the version you created then open the Tiller Money Feeds add-on from the Add-ons menu and it will walk you through linking it to the Console and linking accounts to it for feeds. Just be sure to link the same accounts you linked to the original.

You can unlink the original Foundation Template sheet on the Tiller Console (or from the Settings section of the Tiller Money Feeds add-on). From there you can just delete that Google Sheet via the File menu > Move to Trash.

I want to expand & explore the capability of Tiller with Google Sheets.
Knowing how to restore a backup is very important to allow me to branch out of my comfort zone and experiment with new features. So if I do break the spreadsheet, I know I can always restore it from a working backup.
