Rollup sheet with transaction list

I would like to have a sheet that does the following:

  • shows a pie chart based on categories (similar to Category Tracker)
  • allows for selecting a category, which then would show a list of all individual transactions for that category (similar to Transaction Tracker)
  • filtering based on time and account

This is basically a combination of Category tracker and Transaction tracker. I want to see a high-level spending breakdown for a specific account, and then easily see individual transactions (the why) for a specific category.

Does something like that already exist?

@rhowell; I noticed in your shared spreadsheet for the Scheduled Transactions template that you have a “Category Tracker +” sheet. Is that a modification that you created, and do you plan on sharing it? I’ve found it very useful and it sounds like what Martin is looking for.

I do – never got around to writing up any documentation but happy to share it.

@mk1 You can copy the Category Tracker+ tab from my shared sheet and see if it works for you. It’s just the Category Tracker from Community Solutions with a couple additions I found useful. I think it addresses all your requests except for filtering by account. I might be able to add that if you’d find it helpful. Let me know.

Thank you for your reply. I think the main thing I am looking for is the ability to do more filtering on the whole chart (and have the same filter applied to the individual transactions). I like the flexibility of the Transaction Tracker for filtering on anything. With that said, I primarily need the ability to filter by account.

The Category Tracker+ is great! I like the addition of the bar chart, and the filtering of transactions by tags is useful as well. Thank you for sharing this.

I added a pie chart to my version of the Transaction Tracker. It displays the values returned in the aggregated area to the right, with the pie slices by whatever value you selected in the Group By dropdown, which can be Categories. That way you can filter the results however you like, and it’ll match the detailed transactions returned by Transaction Tracker.

@brettanicus Thank you! Where can I access your version of the Transaction Tracker sheet?

You can copy the sheet from this link:

(right-click tab, choose Copy To > Existing Spreadsheet, then choose your primary Tiller file)

Note the ± sign that groups rows 1-12. That’s useful once you’ve set your filters so you can fold that section to get more screen space.
