Savings Budget won't update

Has anyone had a problem updating the budget or savings columns in your Saving budget (which is a Tiller Community Solutions add-on)? I can make the changes on my savings budget and the figures change, but when I go to Community solutions to update it so it is permanently changed , it does not update . Instead I get an error message "API call to sheets.Spreadsheets. batchUpdate failed with errorInternal error encountered. Does anyone have any suggestions?

When I searched for that error, I see at least one similar occurance. The recommendation then was to try and go to a prior version of the sheet from when it was working, or you could delete and reinstall it, and see if it then works correctly. Was this sheet ever working properly for you, or has it given the error since you installed it?

Thank you for your suggestions. Yes, it was working since I installed it. I have already tried to restore to an earlier version and I still got the same error message, but I can try it again. I have uninstalled and reinstalled my Community Solutions.

Actually, I have looked in earlier versions of my Savings Budget, but I don’t know how to see my earlier savings budget sheet. So I don’t know how to test when it stopped working.

In Google Sheets, go to the sheet in question and then go to the File menu, hit ‘Version History’ and then ‘See Version History’. This will allow you to see a list of every revision that it has saved. You can click through them until you find the one you want and then hit the 3 dots to the right of the date/time you chose and choose ‘Restore this version’, which will roll back the entire file, or you might try ‘Make a copy’ which will make a copy of the entire file. Then you can do some comparison between the two and hopefully discover a small thing that needs tweaking in the main file.

Thank you so much for your suggestions. I had been in the version history but didn’t know about the three dots . That is what I needed to know and was able to get back to a version within this last month when the update was working correctly. Thank you again!

If you haven’t made any customizations to the sheet, the easiest troubleshooting is to just reinstall the sheet. Open the community solutions from the extension menu. Click the manage tab, and find the saving budget, click on it and click restore. I never archive a copy, because all of the data is there, so I overwrite.

Thanks for your suggestion.I had restored my savings budget but the update still didn’t work. I was finally able to restore to a previous version when jpfieber told me about the three dots in the right corner of the version history. Update is working now. Thanks again.
