[Show & Tell] Offsheets: A Zero Knowledge, Mint-Style Front End Web/iOS App for Tiller Users

That’s great to hear, thank you. We hope you love it.

If you don’t see a Filter Uncategorized (xx) button on the Transactions page (like PCB showed in their screenshot), then you have no Uncategorized transactions. It will only appear if you have Uncategorized transactions (either a blank value or “Uncategorized”) in the Category column.

Try removing a category from a row or giving it an Uncategorized value, then check the Transactions page near the Filters section at the top.

Ahh. That makes sense and is a great idea. I categorized some this morning in Google sheets and that must have been all of them.

And, that proves I am not blind (at least today)! I going to tell my wife.

Thanks.

A quick update on Tags:

  • We have added the ability to use Tags in Offsheets by simply having a Tags column in your linked Google Sheet Transactions tab (Tag Manager is also supported, but not required).
  • We also added the ability to create new tags on the fly while adding, editing, or splitting your transactions.

This is available now for web app users, while the iOS release (1.0.4) is waiting on App Store approval.

Also, if you’re on iOS, you can see your current version/build by going to the Settings page and scrolling all the way down to the footer.

Looking forward to the 1.0.4 release. As for how to determine the version, this is at the bottom of my Settings page…

The iOS version is only visible starting with 1.0.4!

Had been testing it on my iPad using a browser. Just downloaded the app and will begin using it- in conjunction with the browser version on my Mac.

Is the “Daily Average” (irrespective of timeframe) on your to do list? Thanks.

Hi - can you show me in a screen shot where you’re looking to have this information? Thanks!

Saw some very odd behavior today when I was editing a Transaction from the iOS app (first time I have tried this). This is version 1.0.4 (3) (thanks for including the version).

I was updating the Description of an uncategorized Transaction, but it also overwrote the Description in 2 other Transactions…

The one circled in yellow is the only Transaction I edited, but it also wrote over the Description in the ones circled in red. This happened while Offsheets was syncing with the Tiller sheet as the Tiller sheet was updating from a recent refresh. Yes, lots of stuff going on simultaneously, but still, this should not happen.

Let me know if you need any additional information from me to dig into this.

Thanks.

Did it also show this in your Google Sheet? Or does it revert to showing correctly in the app when you do a manual sync or refresh?

Yes, it then showed up in my Google Sheet. Of few more pieces of (maybe useless) information…

  • I has also updated the Note for the original Transaction.
  • Offsheets wrote over the Description only of the other 2 Transactions, nothing else. It used the original Description from the Transaction I was editing, not the updated one I had entered (can’t tell from the screenshot I sent).

Thanks.

I’m going to DM you to troubleshoot

This is from the Tiller “Spending Trends” tab within the Tiller sheet:

And this is from the “Trends” section of the Offsheets program:

The current “Avg.” is based on whatever increment is selected/shown (Week, Month, Year). I’d find it helpful to also list a daily average, perhaps just underneath the shown Avg. representing the daily spend within the same timeframe (as is done within the Tiller Money Spending Trends sheet). Thanks.

Another question for adding manual transactions would be is it possible to add the option to update the balance history sheet at the same time? Or did I miss that as well?

Manual transactions do not go in the Balance History tab…they are just in the Transactions tab. Are you talking about Manual accounts maybe?

The add manual transactions menu has a box to update the balance history sheet when adding a manual transactions. I was wondering if the tool in the app worked the same.

I see what you’re referring to now. No, not currently. However, if the Manual Transaction is for a Manual Google Account, then you can go to the Manage Accounts section on the Net worth page and add an updated Balance History entry for that account.

Ok, thank you.

I guess I’ll add that to the list of features requests.

I’ll also post these ones again just in case they were lost in the conversation.

1- Budget menu, keep the manage categories and timeframe pinned at the top so it does not disappear as we scroll down. Might take a little too much real estate depending on the screen size, so having it as a collapsible option could be good.

2- Also in the budget menu, when clicking on a transaction on a category I get the transactions associated. However, it does not seem possible to click on a specific transaction and change the category if I find that it was miscategorized. I then have to go back to the transactions page to edit it.

3- The menu does not maintain the selection (monthly vs yearly) if we go to another menu and come back to the budget. ( I found the default settings option, but I was wondering if it would be better to juste have it keep the previous selection)

Thanks again!

Thank you for your ideas, they have all been added to the feature requests list!

The web and iOS apps have received an app-wide upgrade to our core synchronization engine: Active Data Conflict Prevention.

Because Offsheets seamlessly syncs with your Google Sheet, there is always a risk that an automated background service (like Tiller pulling in new bank data via webhooks) could update your spreadsheet at the exact moment you are manually typing in a change on your phone. To solve this, we have engineered a comprehensive, app-wide lock-and-intercept system to guarantee absolute data integrity.

How It Works: The moment you tap into any input field, Offsheets instantly registers an “Active Edit Session.” If new background data arrives from your Google Sheet while your session is active, Offsheets will securely intercept the incoming data, prevent it from overwriting the screen you are currently working on, and present a “Data Conflict Prevented” prompt. This ensures your manual edits are never unexpectedly erased or overwritten by automated syncs.

Where We Added It: This enterprise-grade data protection has now been fully deployed across the entire application, securing:

• Transactions: Adding, editing, deleting, and splitting.
• Categories & Budgets: Adding, editing, and deleting.
• Accounts & Balance History: Adding, editing, and deleting.
• Savings Budget: Making manual monthly adjustments.

Other Improvements:

• Added context-aware UI tooltips and disabled-states that dynamically activate to protect your actions while active syncs are resolving.
