Your Financial Foundation in 3 Minutes

Build confidence with Tiller – your money in one place, automatically updated daily.

  1. :link: Connect Your Accounts
    See all of your balances in the Tiller console.
    Visit my.tiller.com → Add Accounts.

  2. :page_facing_up: Create a Foundations Template
    Create a Google Sheets™ or Excel™ spreadsheet with the Foundations template.
    Click “Start with Google Sheets” or “Start with Excel.”

  3. :plus: Use the Add-on
    View the Tiller sidebar and pull in your data.

    • Google Sheets → Extensions menu → Tiller Money Feeds
    • Microsoft Excel → Data tab → Tiller Money Add-on

  4. :wrench: Setup Categories & Budget
    Set a budget amount for each category.
    Go to Categories tab → edit or add categories.

  5. :bookmark_tabs: Review Your Transactions
    Transactions from all connected accounts auto-import daily.
    Go to Transactions tab → assign categories.

  6. :gear: Setup AutoCat
    Automatically categorize your transactions.
    Open sidebar → Create AutoCat sheet → define rules → Save & Run AutoCat.

  7. :bar_chart: Review Spending Trends
    See charts and insights for the past 30 days.
    Go to Spending Trends tab → select “Past 30 days.”

  8. :tear_off_calendar: Review Monthly Budget
    Track your spending against your budget.
    Go to Monthly Budget tab → change month to current month.

  9. :globe_with_meridians: Join the Tiller Community
    Find tips, ask questions, and discover community templates.
    Go to community.tiller.com → Sign up → Comment on a post.

Great quick start Alice (@TillerAlice). Thanks for putting it together. I’m going to bookmark this and share it out to new users when it might be helpful to them. Can this be pinned to the top of the “Ask Anything” forum?

Thanks @Clint.C, it was a collaborative effort with me and AI. Did you notice the changes at the top of the forum? @randy and I have been monkeying around with the format. I believe this post is linked from the dropdowns on the Get Started button in header of the forum. Would love to know your thoughts.

Thanks @Mark.S Teamwork! Autocorrect got me, I did originally have my.tiller.com. This is known as the console, which you see after you login. You see your connected accounts, or you can connect accounts, to get all of your transactions into one spreadsheet.
