Alright. Let me start saying I’ve been a long time user of Tiller. Happy customer here. 100%. But I am worried. The number of errors and issues I see has increased a lot this past year. Bank connections are broken for more than a month consistently (Citibank for example). Why is the quality of this service taking a dive recently? What is going on?
I have the opposite experience…things seem better in the last 12 months compared to previous time periods.
I’ve been having a couple outage issues (I’m stuck on day 17 of an outage right now) since our credit union switched backend services, but I have appreciated that the Tiller team at least has tried to fix stuff quickly. The problem mostly seems to be on Yodlee, their data provider’s end. I don’t think there’s much Tiller can do about that, unfortunately. If I understand right, they’ve switched a few people over to Plaid, but I don’t know if Plaid is necessarily any better.
I do appreciate that they’ve gotten a CSV import tool up and running to help fill the gaps.
In my experience, PLAID is not better! The best one I’ve seen is MX, and Tiller isn’t looking at that one. The CSV import will be a great thing IF they can support QFX and have a strong system of preventing duplicate transactions.
Thank you for the kind words, I’ll pass this along to the team.
So glad to hear you’re a happy customer. While we never want you to have connection issues or error messages, we do try to provide the best customer support possible.
I’d recommend reaching out to our support team via the chat window in the lower right corner of the Console at https://my.tiller.com/

I come from the place where Tiller hasn’t reliably synced my data for a couple of years. They say it’s because I have Canadian accounts (which I do), but I kind of gave up on Tiller when they made the announcement they would not pursue any helpdesk tickets regarding syncing on Canadian banks. (they did so for many years prior). Then when PLAID was the chosen second integrator (over better ones), that really made it worse for me. MX has always worked better, esp. for Canadian banks. Now my only hope for using Tiller is if the CSV import matures and gets robust and good at finding duplicates, and supports QFX, not just CSV. So, I love working with Tiller, but I don’t really do so anymore. What I do is use Simplifi for their superb bank syncing, then export those transactions into Actual. AI has been a wonder teaching me scripting and formulas.
@jemmoa7 we really appreciate your being a Tiller user. I know you already know this but for the benefit of anyone reading the thread, many Canadian institutions do not use open banking protocols. I know the lack of syncing with many Canadian institutions can be frustrating for many users. Our hope is one day that systems do allow us to better serve our beloved Canadian friends.
My role here at Tiller is social media, so I’m not able to shed light on any feature requests but please be assured that the team takes all of these needs seriously. Thank you for sharing this information.

Open banking will happen I think in the next two years. It’s been a slow, slow process, but I believe many Canadian banks are on-board, when the gov’t get’s it’s act together and make a bill to enable it. Also, it’s kind of taken a back burner lately because of the “other” pressing issues!
