Hide categories from dropdown

I have about 40 categories for rental properties that we’ve recently sold. Is there a way to temporarily hide them so they don’t appear in the dropdown list when categorizing new transactions?

SOLVED (easily)

Changing the range in the data validation formula to exclude the rows containing the rental properties categories worked. Fortunately, the categories were named in a way that allowed me to group them into a contiguous block. So, instead of the range starting at A2 of the Categories tab, it now starts at A42.

This is another reason I like managing our finances in Google Sheets. It provides flexibility to make changes and individual customizations without having to wait for a developer to prioritize.

Another option is changing the “Hide From Reports” cell to “Hide” for any categories you don’t want to see in your templates.
