Yodlee vs Plaid

Is there a general consensus about which aggregation partner is best if either is available for a given bank?

My unscientific/anecdotal experience of the last month is that Yodlee is more reliable (partly because it can be manually refreshed if it’s not updating).

I’m realizing what a PITA it is to change aggregators midstream (lose balance/transaction history–or at least have to do a bunch of excel manipulation to make it work). So, I’d like to build this right with the best provider from the beginning.

I guess I should also ask…is there an intent to phase out Yodlee (as that would change my thinking too)?

I don’ think there’s any consensus on which aggregator is better. In fact, the answer to your final question might provide some insight into that. Tiller has indicated that it’s plan is to have multiple aggregators, so Yodlee plus Plaid, not Plaid instead of Yodlee. I think that’s precisely because some institutions work better with one or the other, but not both and not always with the same one acting better.

Any idea how you choose Plaid for some institutions and Yodlee for others? Paypal seems to have completely stopped working with Yodlee (while others are working great) - so I’d love to just connect Paypal via Plaid…

Hello everyone,

I recently set up my new Tiller and linked my bank & yes, I do love it!

Unfortunately, not all of my existing accounts (loans/savings) within my bank came from just one link of the below links. And concerned about this, I selected the two-different but same banks offered with one pulling Yodlee and the other pulling Plaid. Problem with this is that its duplicating some transactions. So, I removed Yodlee from my connected accounts but Yodlee still downloads into the spreadsheet. I am wondering if I should simply delete my entire sheet and start a new one? And if so, which bank connection do I link with? Some additional information, the name of my bank as it shows in Tillers dropdown list offers both, “North Carolina State Employees Credit Union” for Yodlee and “State Employees’ Credit Union (NC)” for Plaid. Both are the correct bank! Help! :folded_hands:

Hi @sanderlinmills1 Plaid connections via Tiller don’t pull in loan accounts other than student loans. So for those Yodlee is the provider to consider. If there’s still missing data or accounts this is something we need to troubleshoot further. We don’t currently provide de-duplication and so we suggest that you make sure you unlink any redundant account connections form your sheet. And the guide here provides steps on how to deal with duplicated accounts.
