I used Tiller for about a year and a half, and my accounts were connected through Yodlee. Everything seemed to work pretty reliably.
I’ve changed Google accounts, so I’ve had to set up Tiller from scratch with a new Tiller account and new sheet. Now I’m on Stripe.
I’m seeing several issues.
I have many accounts at my main bank, and some account sync, but my main checking account hasn’t gotten updates in a few weeks.
My credit cards often show duplicate transactions with the same amount, but different dates and variations on vendor names.
When I do “fill sheets” I see several “accounts need refreshing”, and on my.tiller.com those accounts haven’t been updated in a few days, though the credentials are still good.
None of those happened before. Is Yodlee vs Stripe a choice? Can I go back to the previous vendor?
In my troubleshooting I found the institution alerts sheet, which actually does show an alert for my main bank, but I think that’s with Yodlee, not Stripe.
hmmm, I thought Stripe was a payment processor, more like say PayPal, and not like Yodlee/Plaid
What aggregator name do you see on the Tiller console to the right of the institution name and below the Add Accounts button?
Apologies, I meant to say Plaid. It’s not working as well for me as Yodlee did.
If you want to reconnect with Yodlee, go to https://my.tiller.com/aggregators
It looks like new Tiller accounts are getting Plaid as the default option at my.tiller.com.
@endquotedotcom sorry to hear you’re having trouble with Plaid. I’d recommend reaching out to our support team via the chat window in the lower right corner of the Console at https://my.tiller.com/. They are experts at navigating the Yodlee/Plaid connection issues. I had the opposite issue with my accounts, Plaid was working where I was having challenges with Yodlee for one account. The customer success team were amazing to help me with that.

We have been using Tiller for a long time and all of our accounts use Yodlee. We are having multiple connectivity issues with some accounts now. Is there an option to try Plaid instead of Yodlee to see if this resolves some of our issues?
Thanks,
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
Try going to my.tiller.com/aggregators to get an option to connect accounts with Plaid.
It seems that older Tiller accounts are seeing Yodlee at my.tiller.com and newer Tiller accounts are seeing Plaid. I don’t know why this happening.
Hello @Krywucki, if you’re interested in seeing if Plaid might work better for you please reach out to the customer success team in the Tiller console my.tiller.com

@martha.rudkin we are testing out if Plaid is a good option for Tiller users. We had a small beta test going on.

Thanks Martha, was successful to connect to our primary Bank via Plaid (while Yodlee gets a tech error). Looking forward to trying it out on other accounts that we are having tech issues with. @TillerAlice, is Plaid officially supported by Tiller or do I use at my own risk?
Lisa
@Krywucki, Plaid is officially supported by the customer success team.

My issue is that I bank with Schwab, which has a mix of traditional bank accounts and investment accounts.
When syncing with Plaid, you need to select whether the institution is for banking or investing. If you select investing, the bank accounts won’t work. If you select banking, the investment accounts won’t work. If you try to make two separate connections, one for each category, that also doesn’t work.
So I switched it to Yodlee and it went back to working correctly as before.
When visiting the aggregators page and using Yodlee, a scary modal dialog appears indicating that Yodlee is deprecated and may not be supported indefinitely. Hopefully it will stick around or Stripe will figure out a way to work with multiple account types from the same institution.
Is it possible to use Plaid for some accounts and Yodlee for others? I think Yodlee works with all mine (while Plaid doesn’t) with one exception - Paypal. Having a very hard time keeping it connected via Yodlee, so would really love a one-off option, or the choice each time I go to connect a new account.
I stopped using Tiller and won’t renew for this exact reason - My Amex duplicates all my transactions twice as my wife and I have two different logins.
Paypal doesn’t work with Plaid OR Yodlee. My ticket about Paypal via yodlee has been open for over a year and they’re “working on it”. Just added it again via Plaid and it hasn’t filled my sheets with the right info even once. It pulls the right balances in the little popup, then proceeds to NOT put those figures into tiller HQ when I click OK. Also to note: Recently, tiller has suddenly lost just one account out of several on my main credit union, as well - the only account I actively use.
Why do we pay for this?
That’s a fair question, though it’s an equally fair question to ask why the connection failed. Is it because Tiller (or Yodlee or Plaid) is broken, or is it because the credit union changed its data structure in some way that Yodlee needs to figure out? Have you asked your credit union when it is planning on adopting open banking standards? Ultimately, that’s the sustainable solution to reliably getting our data and making a service like Tiller work with all financial institutions.
