You asked, we answered: Tiller Console Improvements

:waving_hand:

We are so appreciative of all the feedback about the new Tiller Console.

We spent the last week or so responding to that feedback and here’s a quick list of the changes we pushed to continue improving the new experience for you. We’re still not done, but these were quick wins we could knock out. Many more of the improvements and feature requests noted are bigger projects that we will circle back to when there is time.

Keep the feedback coming!

Last, if you’re still trying to figure out where things moved, here’s our guide & you can catch a replay of last week’s webinar where I demo quite a lot of what’s new here as well as elsewhere with Tiller.

Features & Improvements

Refresh Accounts button reset next calendar day (rather than on a 24 hour time). It resets at 12AM Pacific time.

Better visual contrast on disabled buttons to meet accessibility guidelines (thanks @lbagnall)

Set as Home feature (now from the bottom left profile menu) you can set any Console page as the default home page when navigating to my.tiller.com

Set default home page as Accounts full list (instead of Linked Accounts for your oldest linked spreadsheet)

Several improvements to the mobile view of Accounts lists to make more space for account names and keep the … from falling off.

Show Recently Used category when selecting a category for a transaction for faster categorization on the go.

Prompt to link newly added accounts to spreadsheets - since you may have more than 1 sheet linked, we don’t want to assume you want newly added accounts to all sheets. This new behavior prompts you to go link them (common point of confusion that the link to sheet step is separate than the add step!)

Show which sheets an account is linked to

Pull down to refresh the page (not an account) on mobile

Increase the login token expiration so you don’t have to log back into the Console as frequently.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed issue where some were seeing “The state parameter is invalid” error message when trying to navigate to the Console (@Mark.S )
  • Fixed some issues where the Refresh button for some Yodlee connections was stuck on “Recently Refreshed” but it had been more than ~15 minutes. Note, we are still seeing some cases where this is occurring, but it seems to be Yodlee behavior and maybe not something we can address in our UI.

Thank you for the continued effort put into making this product better and better. I am so happy to have switched from Quicken a few years ago and it just keeps getting easier and more robust.

One favor I would ask you to consider during an upcoming sprint, although I’m sure not many people are affected or need this change. I import one credit card account using the CSV import option. It is one of the companies that requires the sign on the transaction values to be changed to properly import. My request is this: On the last step there is a drop down for “Advanced options”. So each time I have to open that dropdown and then check the box for switching the +/- values. Do you really need an “Advanced options” drop-down if there is only 1 option? Could you just list the option instead?

Again, thank you for the effort that goes into making this product solid and versatile!

Best regards,
Steve

Hi - I have a question. I used to have tiller. I no longer have it. I’m thinking of resubscribing. I had created a template that worked well. If I subscribe, would I be able to continue using that template, or would I have to start from scratch and build everything again?

Heather, The user save home page preference is slick!. Like it very much. Would like to lock it A-Z or Last View.
l’m kinda seeing where things are going. If using the console is the direction, we are missing manual transactions and splits.

Hi @chris.larson1967 Chris,

ICYMI: Regarding manual transactions and split transactions:

In the following help guide within the Edit Transactions section it mentions:

All About the New Tiller Console | Tiller Help Center.

In the future we expect that you will be able to

  • Add manual transactions
  • Split transactions
  • Reconcile transactions added manually with automated matches
  • Filter the Transactions view
  • What else would you like to see? Write to us at beta@tillerhq.com to let us know.
