You can now add and manage your manual accounts and keep track of balances from the Tiller Console. This feature unlocks new capabilities like seeing your manual account balances and a more complete picture of your net worth in Hello, Money.
It’s a stepping stone for more improvements to come on offering the best options for aggregating all your data for all your accounts, even if they aren’t supported by one of our aggregators.
If you’re already tracking manual accounts via Tiller Money Feeds you can continue to use that feature, but those accounts will remain local to the spreadsheet. Check out the guide below for more details on migrating those accounts.
I like this a lot. In addition - I’d love to be able to manually update balances for “connected” accounts, or turn a connected account into a Manual one.
Here’s my situation: Initially, my mortgage servicer supported Tiller, then the holder changed tech stacks, and no longer support Yodlee/Tiller. To keep the balance updated, I have to manually hack the Balance History tab each month. I don’t want to lose my 4 years of history by adding/changing the actual account in Tiller.
This is such a great new feature! I generally go to the Tiller Console to see what needs refreshing and have multiple different spreadsheets I’m using that are linked, so it’s great to be able to use manual accounts across them without having to update it multiple times.
I was a little bit confused about not being able to select the manual account and update the balance within the sidebar, but then I actually read the instructions (lol) and it made sense. Just a small suggestion-it may be worth noting in the sidebar when you click on “Manual Accounts” (in addition to your comment the feature being available in the Tiller Console) that to manage the manual accounts globally, you’ll need to do that from the Tiller Console instead of here on the sidebar.
Thanks @Kathryn! I’m curious, are you seeing this banner in the top of the sidebar? If so, are you suggesting different language there to make it more clear that to “manual accounts globally, you’ll need to do that from the Tiller Console”
Yes and yes . It looks like if I add a manual account in the Tiller Console, I can’t choose that account from the dropdown here in the sidebar to update the balance (at least when I tried it out), but I have to go back into the Tiller Console and update the balance each time there, so it was just a bit confusing for a minute.
Thank you! I will really love being able to see manual accounts in the Hello, Money e-mail.
I have a question – I want to migrate my local manual accounts from the spreadsheet to the console so I’m trying to follow the instructions, but I can’t figure out how to find the “new” account ID that Tiller assigned to the manual accounts. Any help would be appreciated!
@Kathryn thanks for sharing more context. Yes, it is a little confusing right now since they’re not talking to each other (yet).
@Yossarian to find the “new” account ID look in the Balance History sheet and find the Account ID column, it’s not usually hidden by default, but it could be. Look for the most recent entry for the manual account that was filled after you created the account on the Tiller Console and filled the data using Tiller Money Feeds. If you haven’t done that step yet, make sure the new manual accounts is linked. Let me know if that doesn’t help.
Heather, I had the manual accounts on the spreadsheet, I just added them to the console. How do I remove the ones I had in the spreadsheet, now i am double counting.
I have the same question. I added 2 manual accounts(Real Estate and a 401K that I am able to connect now) in the Tiller Console, but that creates duplicates. I can go back to the original manual account in the extensions and change the value to “0.00”, but I can’t delete the accounts.
I was actually just going to ask this question! If I add my manual accounts to the Console, I presumed there would be duplicate listings in the “Balance” (and perhaps other) tab(s). If I understand this reply correctly, apparently one can’t delete a manual account from the Tiller Money Feeds extension? Is it possible- perhaps the only way?- to delete from the “Accounts” tab within the spreadsheet?
I tried to delete the accounts from the hidden columns in the accounts tab, but the come back immediately. I assume someone at Tiller will have the necessary rights to delete. Hopefully they will respond with guidance.
The question at least a couple of us have is how does one completely delete/remove a manual account from the Tiller Money extension in one’s spreadsheet?
