The value of manual accounts added via Tiller Console is not included in Net Worth, as displayed in the Spending Trends and Balances sheets. Nor do those accounts appear in the Accounts sheet pulldown in the Account column.
Adding those accounts from the sheet does result in the their value being included in Net Worth and they appear in the Account column pulldown in the Accounts sheet.
The documentation suggests that dealing with manual accounts via the Console is preferable. But using this method does not work correctly now or at the very least requires additional steps that are not documented on the Console page. Am I missing something here?
I have manual accounts and their balances update everywhere. I have 2 manual accounts that I update the balance via the tiller console. Please double check that your accounts are selected on the linked spreadsheet dropdown on the tiller console and that they are selected on the accounts page in the first columns. That is the only thing I can think that might be off? Can you look at your balance history and see if the balances are coming in.
As I said in my post, I suspected that additional steps were necessary. I found the relevant document – Tracking balances for manual accounts – in the Help, which mentions that the account needs to be checked in the linked spreadsheet pulldown and that you then have to do a fill operation.
Why a link to this article isn’t in the Console page is beyond me, but typical of what I think is very poorly organized documentation for Tiller that does not make good use of the fundamental operation of the Web – hyperlinks. The information for how to use Tiller is mostly available, but very hard to find.
I believe that is the standard way to add new accounts to the spreadsheet, so perhaps tiller staff didn’t see that as documentation that needed to be added. Maybe you can email support and explain your frustration with this process. Hopefully you have it working now?
